Chalke Valley Cheese was born during the cold winter of 2011. Following months of searching for just the right place, we finally collected the keys to our new creamery on the beautiful Cranborne Estate in February 2012.
We rolled up our sleeves and over the next couple of months prepared the buildings to receive all of the equipment we had sourced to enable us to make our cheese, including antique cheese presses and our pride and joy, a custom made cheese vat. We finally produced our first batch of soft cheese on April Fools day – hopefully not a bad omen!!!!!
We now make five of our own cheeses and, in collaberation with James McCall, a maker of award winning cheeses, can also offer a range of wash-rind cheeses.
